The two-and-a-half member band Bedlam Bards, based out of Texas, will be making room in their schedule of various Renaissance Faires and conventions to attend Dragon*Con again this year.

The Bedlam Bards

Comprised of two bearded musicians named Hawke and Cedric, and sometimes with the help of the lovely Lily, the Bedlam Bards describe their music as Renfolk music. Renfolk music being a unique combination of “Celtic, English, Scandinavian, and American folk music mixed in with period tunes from the Renaissance and Middle Ages that rubs shoulders with the occasional incognito rock song.” They are also very much self-labeled Browncoats, meaning they are very involved in the Whedonverse fandoms of Firefly and Serenity. Much of their music is filk inspired by the late Fox network show, however there are also many tales of piracy and general debauchery involved in their music. The video after the break features the title track from their Firefly-themed album, On the Drift. Someone took the song and put it to footage from the show. Usually I’m not fond of posting fan videos like such, but this one seems pretty well put together.
