MP3: Ayria, “In Your Room”
Toronto-based synthpop group Ayria have been invited back to Dragon*Con, and as such they are our second featured band this month.
Ayria is a three-piece band, the project behind vocalist Jennifer Parkin. Since the release of Debris on Alfa Matrix in 2003 they have released three albums, two EPs, and made numerous compilation appearances. Their latest disc, Hearts for Bullets, is a solid album of good female-fronted synthpop music which I got my hands on the last time I saw Ayria live on tour with The Crüxshadows and I:Scintilla. Their latest compilation appearance is actually a nice 32-track label release, Alfa Matrix re:covered - a tribute to Depeche Mode. The song featured below is from this release, a cover of Depeche Mode’s “In Your Room”.
