This is a clip taken from Japanese artist Gackt’s (神威 楽斗) Gackt Live Tour 2004 – The Sixth Day & Seventh Night ~Final~ (Buy it now!) performance. This nine-minute long, acoustic performance of his epic “Last Song” is the most beautiful, heart-felt performance of the song that I have ever seen. Luckily, I found a version of the video which includes the lyrics translated to English on the screen without being obnoxious. They are such a powerful part of the song that even Gackt starts to tear up in the midst of singing.

Today is the sixty-sixth anniversary of the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. The pre-emptive assault by Japan’s Imperial Navy was the key element that brought the United States of America into World War II back in 1941. Ironic that I post a Japanese video on this day? Perhaps. Although I did post a German video back on D-Day’s anniversary so it’s to be expected. :-P
