CONTEST: Win Church’s “Song Force Crystal”
The Portland based Church boasts a sound that is difficult to pin point. The band exudes mellow experimental folk mixed with the unpredictable pang of guitar, all while haunting vocals harmonize with very vivid verbal imagery. Perhaps “avant-pop” is the best word for it? Church is a four piece band consisting of brothers Brandon and Richard Laws as well as Christof Hendrickson and Lane Barrington. Apparently, one of them is being conjured from fire in the picture above. Song Force Crystal is the band’s first long playing album, following their two early EP’s Gold and With All Our Love for Francisco the Man.
