I finally had the opportunity to see a band that I’ve been a fan of for years for the first time live last night, No Doubt.

I recall listening to their classic Tragic Kingdom album on a constant rotation back in the mid-nineties, when the album was released. Buying up their past discography as well, I discovered a band which would become one of my true favorites. As Gwen Stefani’s solo career sprouted, I began to lose interest in her music for the most part. One can only listen to “Hollaback Girl” so many times, after all. I was disappointed that I may never see the band live and my best bet would be to stand among the hoards of twelve year old girls and listen to Gwen’s solo music. As if that would happen. It was to my surprise that after four years of no sign of hope No Doubt began working together again.

The show was opened by Swedish band The Sounds and the up-and-coming Paramore. No Doubt played an energetic show, a very memorable experience. One of my favorite moments was singing along to the band’s popular “Just a Girl” along with the hundreds of other men in the audience.
