I have done this once before, but I figured it was a good time to bring it back. Why seven things? Because seven ate nine!

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now. Post these instructions along with your 7 songs…

1. Creedence Clearwater Revival, “Looking Out My Back Door”

Lately this song has been popping up in my head and making itself a nice home. This is a fun song, I’m surprised I had not heard it earlier than just recently.

2. Les Claypool, “You Can’t Tell Errol Anything”

I really enjoy this song from Claypool’s recent album Of Fungi and Foe. It has a very grooveable beat and tells a story of a man named Errol. It is definitely worth checking out this new album if you haven’t already.

3. Jimmy Buffett, “Margaritaville”

As a fellow Mobilian, I’ve always been a fan of ’s music. I only recently got to experience the joy that is dining at one of his Margaritaville restaurants, however, while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. My drink was called “We’re Off to See the Lizard”. Here is an older live performance of the song.

4. Aerosmith, “Sweet Emotion [Live]“

Recently I’ve rediscovered how much I like . “Sweet Emotion” is one of my favorites singles by the band. Not to mention it’s my favorite song to play on Guitar Hero: , the bass part of course. This version is a live performance of the song recorded in Seattle. It can be found on Young Lust: The Anthology.

5. mc chris w/ Whole Wheat Bread, “fett’s vette [live]“

Topping off what was a heck of a concert, along with this tour’s supporting band took the stage together to perform the popular song about Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett. This video of the epic pairing was filmed at the Blender Theater at Gramercy in New York City on May 20.

6. Stray Cats, “Stray Cut Strut”

Lately I’ve been rocking out to a lot of rockabilly music, stuff like and Brian Setzer’s other projects in particular. You probably are already familiar with the band’s hit “Stray Cat Strut”. A very cool song.

7. Infectious Grooves, “Cousin Randy”

We will finish off the post with this bizarre music video. Suicidal Tendencies front man Mike Muir formed this band, , in the early 1990’s. The band features a sort of “funk metal” sound with heavy bass riffs and bizarre comedic lyrics. “Cousin Randy” is my personal favorite of the band’s videos. It can be found on the 1994 concept album Groove Family Cyco. Turn the volume up, sit back, relax, and enjoy the song.
