Today is the great Sir Paul McCartney’s birthday. His 65th birthday, to be precise, which means he has officially outgrown the song he wrote back when he was sixteen: “When I’m Sixty-Four”. Though he wrote the song that early, it wasn’t put on a Beatles record until Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. If you remember, I posted that entire album in mono in a previous entry so you can pick up the mp3 for this song (and the whole album if you want) there. When you download it, just make sure you remember who your favorite music blogger is! ;-)

This video is a scene from the popular animated Beatles film Yellow Submarine. The DVD of the film is a bit pricey seeing as it’s out of print (regardless, you can still buy it now on Amazon.com) but the soundtrack remains affordable. Check it out using the link at the bottom, lots of classic tracks (“All Together Now” is my ringtone). Happy birthday, Sir Paul! *bows*
