I love mc chris. I’ve been a big fan for many years. I contemplated not making this post but I feel like it needs to be said. Everybody just needs to get along with each other!

mc chris

Throughout the years that I have known hip hopper mc chris he has been nothing but the coolest mofo to me. We first met in 2004 at Dragon*Con before he even began touring. If I remember correctly I have seen every East Coast tour of his since he began touring in 2005 with the exception of this year’s: The Monster Hunter Tour. Scheduling conflicts eliminated that possibility unfortunately.

Recent actions have put a crosshair of sorts on mc chris while the internet gangs up on him and calls him out for his behavior. England based Superpowerless, along with Madhatter and MC Wreckshin, have even put together what I believe is the first actual mc chris diss song: “Little Man”. Read more about my history with mc chris, his current dilemma, and watch the video for “Little Man” after the break.

I have seen mc chris remove belligerent concert goers numerous times before, drunks and general assholes. I have seen him rip hecklers a new one like no one else (well, maybe Daniel Tosh). At the beginning of this tour he may have gone a bit too far. During Richie Branson’s opening set at the Philadelphia show a fan sent out a tweet stating simply “Dear nerd rapper opening for Powerglove/mc chris. You’re not good enough to pander to me. Better luck next time.” Pretty harmless right? Well for some reason mc chris took the stage, interrupting Branson, and called out the fan. He was removed from the venue for negativity.

I know what you’re thinking. That may have been a bit extreme. The rest of the internet thought so as well and, following a post on Reddit, all hell broke loose for mc chris. Realizing his mistake he made a public apology and apologized to the (former?) fan on the very Twitter where this entire situation began. This was not enough for many and the backlash continues to this day.

Superpowerless was quick to release a new track for the situation. “Little Man” was put out there with the following disclaimer.

MC Chris sometimes serves as a gateway to Nerdcore music for so many people that love geek music. By throwing temper tantrums, acting like a douchebag, and mistreating his fans on a constant basis, he is potentially pushing people away from an otherwise diverse and supportive community.

We’ve had enough of him getting away with being a dick to his own listeners as well as our own, so when we saw his half-assed apology video complete with a fake breakdown, we decided immediately to make a reply.

So while things may not be the best for mc chris at the moment he is still the man. He still makes good music. I mean… did anybody boycott the new Dark Knight Rises film because Christian Bale is an asshole in real life? Of course not. Some say that mc chris’ fans spend more time defending his actions than anything else. I haven’t made any posts like this before. I’ve never really even acknowledged anything like this before. Honestly every time I have seen someone booted from a show they have deserved it. While in this instance mc chris may have acted out of line he has apologized and I’m pretty sure he has learned from his mistake.

So what is the point of all these pictures of mc chris and me? I hunted down as many as I could find. I know there are more somewhere but they may have simply been lost over time. The point is to show that I have been there. I have seen more mc chris shows than I can count. I have heard all of his music (many, many times) and support whatever he does.

As I said in the beginning of this post he has never been anything but the coolest mofo to me and to any friends that I have introduced to him. I have played Left 4 Dead with him. He bought me a hotel room one night after a show when my friends ditched at the last minute, stranding me in Atlanta. He has signed a million things for me, although I may be rounding up since I have no idea on the exact number. He has been very supportive of You Sound Like A Robot offering up an interview and allowing me to host an incredible amount of mp3s including his older albums and many tracks that aren’t available on any of his CDs.

I believe in mc chris.

How many other artists have I seen a Harry Potter movie with? None! MC Chris generally rocks.

Teehee Count was in one of your pics.
I am like an ostrich with my head in the dirt. It took me a while to figure out what this mc crying thing was about. Then I saw it and quickly moved on. It’s like a fan war on Facebook, I laughed, then got bored and moved on.

Good historical pics though man. Cool to see how people change over the years.

Yep. Proud to be photobombed by the likes of Count. Haha.
