I don’t know a lot about my next Dragon*Con featured band, Jefferson Starship, other than they have been making music for a very long time.

Jefferson Airplane

Jefferson Starship is actually a spin-off band of sorts of Jefferson Airplane which came about in the early 1970’s. I first heard of the newer Jefferson Starship variation in the Star Wars Holiday Special of all places. A miniature-scaled version of the band performed a track called “Light the Sky on Fire” in order to distract and entertain a nasty Imperial. I included video of that after the break.

Jefferson Starship will be performing two shows at the convention. The first is on Saturday evening and will be a special performance described as “a science fiction/electronica/rock-opera ‘mosh’ of Blows Against The Empire and Vangelis score for the film Blade Runner.” They will also perform a set on Sunday evening prior to The Crüxshadows.
