I’ve posted about Voltaire on a number of occasions before. That is for one simple reason: he is pretty darn awesome. I’ve been a fan of Voltaire’s music and more for many years now. With his tongue-in-cheek musical antics his comedic music is often difficult to pin a genre on. European folk is often tossed around as well as dark cabaret. There have also been mentionings of new wave and darkwave, but like I said… he’s just Voltaire. His live shows, occasionally featuring a full band but normally an alcohol-fueled solo effort with an acoustic guitar, are always a fun experience. Those of you attending Dragon*Con absolutely must catch his show on Friday night after Abney Park as well as his two concourse shows on Saturday and Sunday at 6:30. Dragon*Con



His sixth full-length release, To the Bottom of the Sea, will soon see release. With the closing of Dancing Ferret Discs, this new CD will be self-released by Voltaire in very limited numbers. This means that you need to head over here and get your pre-order in immediately as the cut-off date is August 28. I’m not sure if the album will be available at Dragon*Con, he hasn’t made that information public yet. The mp3 below, “Happy Birthday (My Olde Friend)” can be found on the upcoming album. Be sure to buy some of Voltaire previous discography using the links above and below. I highly recommend them all.
