Hailing from Greenville, SC the duo known as Valentine Wolfe pride themselves as purveyors, performers, and composers of the finest Gothic Cabaret music for voice, double bass, and electronics. They are also my favorite discovery from the recent ConCarolinas convention in Charlotte, NC this past weekend.

Valentine Wolfe

I was in attendance for most of the weekend with my wife Rebecca Carter, an author guest. Fortunately her dealer table was located conveniently nearby the main programming room where I was able to catch Friday night’s performance from Valentine Wolfe. Vocal duties fall with Lady Sarah Black, armed with a sultry voice and taste for the macabre. Following her meeting with double bass virtuoso Braxton Ballew the band got its start in 2006. A five song EP appropriately titled The Five Nocturnes saw release in 2009 followed by their first full length studio album The Crimson Masquerade in 2010.

I had trouble deciding on a single mp3 to post along with the entry to showcase Valentine Wolfe’s sound, so I went with three. Each are from The Crimson Masquerade. Braxton and Sarah are nice enough to share their music with us, much of it is available to stream or even download on their official site and Last.fm page. Be sure to support them if you dig their noises!
