Isabel Burning by Donna LynchWith a hardcover release date of next month, August 2008, Ego Likeness musician Donna Lynch’s new novel “Isabel Burning” will soon be available to the public. The paperback will be available January 2009 for those would rather hold out until then. Here is a description of the book taken from the publisher, Raw Dog Screaming Press…

As a young woman raised in the soot-covered mediocrity of an English industrial town, Isabel has led a common and directionless life. Secretly she yearns to be the center of something, anything, that is momentous and vital. She dreams of making marks on the world.

Her new job as housekeeper at Grace mansion is hardly exciting but does surround her with the accouterments of aristocratic lineage while allowing her to observe the habits of the enigmatic Dr. Edward Grace. Captivated by his tales of travel to Africa, Isabel is inexorably drawn into a tumultuous relationship which eventually reveals the Grace family’s dark heritage and lays bare every secret, even the ones she keeps from herself.

With the help of Steven Archer, the other half of Ego Likeness, Raw Dog Screaming Press is releasing a very limited edition of the book. Only 150 versions will be sold, each individually numbered and signed by Archer and Lynch. The covers of each will be coated in unique artwork by Archer, different on each book. As if that’s not enough, they are also including a limited Ego Likeness CD housing remixes and spoken word tracks of songs that are about or influenced by the story of the novel, for example “Above the Soil” from the album Water to the Dead according to the above video.
