Yesterday Europe saw the release of The Crüxshadows’ latest single, “Immortal”. Ironically, it was also Rogue’s birthday. So a day late happy birthday to him! For some reason, here in the states we have to wait until July 8 for the release of the single (unless you’re awesome like me, har har!). Kind of sucks, really… I mean it’s our Independence Day!The band is actually on tour right now in Europe promoting the single. Once they are finished in that continent, they will head back to the states in time for Dragon*Con on Labor Day weekend. I’ll be there… will you?

The tour, cleverly dubbed the “2008 Immortal Tour”, is the first tour for four of the band members, all of whom are pictured on this entry in photographs from their first show of the tour in Mainz thanks to the awesome Art-in-Black.de. David Wood and Johanna Moresco are the two new violinists. Sarah Kilgore is the new dancer. The final new member for this tour is Valerie Gentile, the guitarist. Actually, only three of the members are veterans: Rogue (of course), Jessica Lackey (long time dancer and wife of Rogue), and Jen “Pyromantic” Jawidzik (super awesome keyboardist).
The single contains five tracks and is, as always, an interesting and unique disc. The title track, of course, is the leader of the songs. A radio edit, which chops about two minutes from the album version of the song, follows. “Ariadne”, a track from DreamCypher gets the remix treatment on track three. A club mix of “Immortal” steps in with the fourth track and the disc is ended by an exclusive B-side, “Exile”…

The single is supposedly to be followed by a “greatest hits” album to be released later this year, though not much is known about the mystery disc yet. Stay tuned for more information as it is rolls in.
