After Space Oddity gained David Bowie the attention of the public, his trendsetting glam rocker persona Ziggy Stardust took him to the top. By the mid-70′s the character was retired and a new Bowie rose to take his place.

With the release of Young Americans in 1975 Bowie showed off a new R&B, Americanized sound. Collaborating with fellow music legend John Lennon on two tracks they produced an interesting cover of The Beatles‘ “Across The Universe” as well as David Bowie’s first American number one single, “Fame”. The track features Lennon on guitars and backing vocals. Check out an mp3 after the break.
