So I’ve been listening to the latest album from the Seattle based Steampunk aficionados Abney Park pretty heavily lately. You may know Captain Robert and his gang as the crew of the H.M.S. Ophelia, flying high above… well… anywhere the pirates please.

Their latest album saw release at the end of last year. Æther Shanties features eleven tracks of exquisite instrumentation and culturally influenced rhythms intertwined with the industrial sound that they have brought for years now. The Steampunk character of the bandmates brings out a distinct sound as if the recording may have taken place in an era long ago when steam powered everything, airships filled the skies, and piracy was rampant.
