More from George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, The Beatles
Reaching part six in the eleven part series of posts including The Beatles‘ classic animated series we have officially passed the halfway mark. While we are still in season one’s episodes, the episodes of which premiered in 1965, the later portion of the season went on into 1966. Watch episodes twenty through twenty-three after the break below.

Each episode is split into two separate videos due to time constraints on YouTube. They are as originally uploaded by McCKLENN who was cool enough to share the entire series. Every episode follows a similar pattern: one animated short based upon a song by The Beatles, two sing-a-long features, and a second animated short.
1 – 3 | 4 – 7 | 8 – 11 | 12 – 15 | 16 – 19 | 20 – 23
24 – 26 | 27 – 30 | 31 – 33 | 34 – 36 | 37 – 39
In the first portion of episode twenty George Harrison is unknowingly registered for an interesting concept known as an ice boat race by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The title of the cartoon is “Dizzy Miss Lizzy”, appropriate because George’s racing partner is a heavy frauline named Lizzy. In the two sing-a-long features the songs “Ticket To Ride” and “From Me To You” are used. The next cartoon for “I Saw Her Standing There” finds The Beatles in Madrid, Spain. When John accidentally does some flamenco dancing courtesy of some hot ash in his boot a sizzling senorita named Rosita falls for him. Her dancing partner, a jealous fella named Jose, is not amused.

In episode twenty-one The Beatles find themselves on a fishing trip in the first animated short, “What You’re Doing”. In one of the more twisted and one of my personal favorites of the show Ringo Starr is kidnapped by a gypsy queen. The brilliant plan in order to save the drummer involves George in a dress and gypsy headwear. The two songs featured in the sing-a-long segments are “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” and “All My Loving”. In “Money” the gang trusts Ringo to keep a large amount of cash protected by sewing it into his jacket pocket. He ends up separated from the group with a mysterious man chasing him throughout a carnival, inside fun houses and hunted houses and the like.

The twenty-second episode begins with a rather unique cartoon for “Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand”, a German translation of “I Want To Hold Your Hand”. It is the only in the series to feature a track in a language other than English. The Beatles are assigned the task of setting out with a guide dog named Gunther to place a flag atop a snow covered mountain top. The the sing-a-long features the tracks “Bad Boy” and “Tell Me Why”. In “She Loves You” the gang stumbles upon what they believe to be a damsel in distress. Soon, however, the boys end up with knives flying at their heads.

Episode twenty-three begins with a short based on the song “Bad Boy”. When The Beatles end up off the side of a cliff a boy named Hans meets them at the bottom with aspirations of becoming a Beatle himself. When he tries to escape to Liverpool the boy’s parents plead with the band to bring him back by performing a song. Oddly enough, Paul plays his bass right-handed in this short. The sing-a-longs feature the two tracks “Please Please Me” and “Hold Me Tight”. In the second installment of the episode, “Tell Me Why”, Ringo finds himself racing a donkey in a Spanish horse race. Not just anything donkey, mind you, but one that runs at super speeds when it hears loud music. Obviously, the band will have to work together to win this one.
