Today is March 11, also known as the much celebrated 311 Day. The band’s discography has been on pretty heavy rotation for me throughout the day. It’s too bad I can’t be in Las Vegas where the real party is tonight.

311

At about twenty years old 311 has been releasing music and touring for a while now. They have become quite the juggernaut. They have also earned a very extensive and devoted fanbase. They are currently celebrating the release of last year’s Uplifter which I have mentioned before. Following tonight’s massive 311 Day celebration in Las Vegas they will set out on a tour hopping from Guam, Indonesia, Japan, and Hawaii. Check out those tour dates plus three great 311 mp3s after the break.

The first track I wanted to post is actually a cover. “Who’s Got The Herb?” was originally performed by Human Rights, the singer of punk band Bad Brains. This studio recording was originally released on a compilation called Hempilation: Freedom is NORML. “Do You Right” is an older track, released in 1993. I always liked it, I believe it is very well composed and a downright cool song. Thirdly, “Amber” was a single in 2001 from the band’s album From Chaos. It was also featured in the Adam Sandler film 50 First Dates. This version has a remixed intro as it is plucked from their Greatest Hits ’93-’03 disc.
