More from Dawn Landes, Green Jelly, Imogen Heap, Les Claypool, the Diogenes Club, Toby Keith
It’s time again for another seven songs that have been swimming around my world lately. I even got Count Von Count in on the action, check him out. He’s holding up seven fingers!

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now. Post these instructions along with your 7 songs…
1. Les Claypool, “Hot Rod Lincoln”
The classic track “Hot Rod Lincoln” has been covered a number of times since it was originally penned by Charlie Ryan. This cover performed by bassist extraordinaire Les Claypool is probably my personal favorite. It was released in 2002 on a compilation for NASCAR on Fox called Crank It Up.
2. Green Jelly, “Eat Satan’s Ham”
I can’t believe that until just recently I had never heard of this band. Green Jellÿ, pronounced Green Jello but spelled differently for legal reasons, has been around for years. Back in 1981 the first formation of the lineup came together with the goal of being “the world’s worst band.” Years later and they are still putting out material to a devout fanbase. This video features a live performance of an epic track called “Eat Satan’s Ham”. It was released on their debut album Triple Live Möther Gööse at Budokan.

3. Imogen Heap, “First Train Home”
I have been familiar with British singer and songwriter Imogen Heap’s work for a while now, but it isn’t until recently that I really got a chance to check out her music. She is a very talented individual who uses her voice and elaborate instrumentation in conjunction with electronic mixing to produce a pretty great pop rock sound. This track, “First Train Home”, is the first single from her latest release, Ellipse.
4. the Diogenes Club, “Tie Ourselves Around”
Based out of Southern U.K. the Diogenes Club features a pretty unique electronica sound. Keep an eye out their new 979 EP due out February 22. It includes the track in this video, “Tie Ourselves Around”, which first caught my attention as well as a couple others.

5. Dawn Landes, “Young Girl”
I had never heard of Dawn Landes until I heard this track the other day. She definitely has a good country-folk sound about her music. “Young Girl” is a catchy new single from her EP Sweet Heart Rodeo which actually dropped today. Check it out!
6. Green Jelly, “Three Little Pigs”
I couldn’t resist putting a second Green Jellÿ track on here. This song is a take on the classic fairytale “Three Little Pigs”. It makes for a pretty intense song. One neat little fact is that the falsetto “not by the hair of my chiny chin chin!” line is actually sung by Maynard from Tool. This one is from their 1992 release, Cereal Killer.

7. Toby Keith, “Weed With Willie”
I never though I would be posting a Toby Keith song on here. This one had me cracking up though, a tale of smoking weed with Willie Nelson. It was released on his 2003 album Shock’n Y’all, one of the two live tracks closing the CD. I’ve heard Willie’s stash was top shelf, but jeez…

I could get into the Imogen song. I’m sure we’ll see a remix in the future that will do it quite nicely.
Ugh, how could you post about The Diogenes Club and god forsaken dirt of the land, Toby Keith in one post? That is a disgrace!
Yeah, I never thought it would happen either. I’m not a fan of his work in general but the one song up there amused me. You ought to give it a listen.
