Ah ha! I have finally gotten a hold of the elusive 2003 remixed release of The Tribe‘s soundtrack album “Abe Messiah”. Thanks to a reader by the name of Paul, that is. What better way to end the year of 2009 than by posting this disc which I have been hunting throughout it? As well as years before, that is.

The Tribe - Abe Messiah Remix

For those uninitiated, The Tribe is a post-apocalyptic TV series out of New Zealand which featured a child and teenager cast in its five seasons. All adults have been eradicated thanks to a virus and as such the kids are left to fend for themselves and survive. It didn’t take off very well here in the states, although it aired regularly on a division of Starz called WAM. I followed it pretty intensely for a few years, however. The first “Abe Messiah” album was released in 2000 in New Zealand, 2001 worldwide. This newer remix album was released exclusively in Germany as a limited affair a few years later in 2003. It includes the previously released tracks as recorded by the season two cast as well as a few newer original compositions featured throughout the show’s episodes. Three music videos were also included on the enhanced CD. Check out the videos and download the album in its entirety after the break.

TRIBES PHENOMENON TO HIT THE BIG SCREEN
First feature off the block in the development slate for the Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment Group, one of New Zealand’s most prolific creators and producers of live-action quality family entertainment, is “TRIBES”, a motion picture adaptation of their massive international long-running television hit show, “THE TRIBE”, which has a fanatical worldwide fan base and footprint.
Set in a post apocalyptic world with no adults, leaving the young to reboot society and rebuild a new world order, the drama series has evolved into a substantial franchise around the globe with more than 300 episodes produced and distributed in more than 40 countries, 18 novels being published, 2 best selling albums made by the cast and a diverse range of merchandise.
Cloud 9 founder, Exec Producer, and co creator of the series, Raymond Thompson, is penning the screenplay.
Advanced discussions are already taking place with an A-List director who has expressed a strong interest to take the helm and further announcements are expected in the near future.
With 5 times Academy Award winner Richard Taylor and his design and effects team at Weta Workshop in New Zealand (the company responsible for work on “THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY”, “KING KONG”, “AVATAR”, “DISTRICT 9” and “THE NARNIA CHRONICLES”) “looking forward to the possible opportunity to work with Ray to create a unique feature film adaptation of the world renowned Television franchise THE TRIBE”.
Richard added … “considering that THE TRIBE played such a big part in New Zealand’s television production slate through the 90′s, with over 300 episodes produced and the fact that Weta Workshop was able to work on some of these episodes, we are pleased therefore to be invited to be part of the team to bring this long running and very successful television franchise to the big screen”.
A prolific Indy, Cloud 9, has produced and created a substantial catalogue of television programming in addition to THE TRIBE, which have been sold to 130 countries initially through its subsidiary, Cumulus, with Endemol now handling distribution of the back catalogue.
This has freed Thompson to focus on expansion into features. Veteran motion picture rep Alan Gasmer is repping Thompson and is attached to produce along with lawyer / producer, Eric Feig. Gasmer and Feig are pursuing discussions with potential strategic US partners for the TRIBES feature along with other titles from Cloud 9′s substantial feature development slate.
