The New York-based WEEP will be attending this year’s Dragon*Con, a performance being scheduled for Friday night before Abney Park.

You may recognize WEEP’s guitarist and lead vocalist, Doc Hammer. He is a former member of darkwave classics Mors Syphilitica and Requiem in White and, even cooler, the co-creator of Adult Swim‘s The Venture Bros. Don’t detract from the fullness of the band as Fred Macaraeg, Alex Malfunction, and Bill Kovalcik help to complete the band’s sound. The band has one album out titled Never Ever, released through Projekt Records. They have a free mp3 offered up across the internet titled “Shut Up and Drive” which you can download below. Some folks may recognize it as a Rihanna cover. When asked why they chose to cover Rihanna, Doc simply says “Why not ‘Shut Up and Drive’? Do you really want WEEP to poop on your favorite song?” He makes a good point.
