CONTEST: Win Abney Park’s “Lost Horizons” album!
The Seattle based Steampunk aficionados from Abney Park will once again be gracing the stage and hanging out at this year’s Dragon*Con. They will be performing on Friday night, so be sure to catch that. In the mean time I’ve got a free CD to give you…

I first heard of Abney Park at Dragon*Con a few years ago, however it wasn’t until last year that I really got to experience their live set and get to meet the band. They are great people who make great music… oh, and they’re great dressers too. They have come a long way since the band’s formation in 1997, changing members and sounds and generally evolving into what they are today. Their latest album Lost Horizons: The Continuing Adventures of Abney Park may be their best to date, and I’ve got a copy just for you. Enter for your chance to win it below and enjoy a track from the CD in the meantime, a nod at Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker titled “Herr Drosselmeyer’s Doll”.

It was announced today on Captain Robert’s LiveJournal that unfortunately Finn Von Claret will no longer be touring with the band. She has left to start a dancing company in Seattle, something which I have no doubt she will be a success in. A reputable dancer named Najla will be “temporarily” filling in Finn’s spot while a new member is searched for. If you’re interested or if you know someone who may be, swing over to this post on Craigslist and let them know.

A new album is in the works from the band titled Aether Shanties. A release date or anything like that hasn’t been brought to my attention, but know that new material is on it’s way. If you would like to enter for your chance at a free copy of Lost Horizons make sure you fill out the information requested completely and check back frequently. You’re allowed one vote per day up until I pull the plug at the end of the month. And if you are attending Dragon*Con this year, arrangements can be made to pick it up at the convention. Or it can be shipped. And if you happen to already have Lost Horizons, Captain Robert has agreed to swap it out for another of the band’s albums. So thanks to him. Good luck!
